IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF GAUDÍ
The architect Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926) is probably the most prominent architect from the Modernist period, and his works are indeed a symbol of Barcelona.
During this tour, we will visit one of his most celebrated creations by Gaudi: La Pedrera.
Also called Casa Milà, was given its popular name due to the controversy provoked in 1910.
"The quarry" is a negative name locals gave the building to mock the extravagant design of its main facade. The undulating stone and its wrought-iron balconies make this monument a masterpiece of creativity and innovation. Gaudí designed a building that is unique in all respects and reveals his boundless imagination using countless organic shapes of nature.
The group will be led by one of our guides, who will explain how Passeig de Gràcia became one of Barcelona’s most iconic avenues—renowned for its elegant architecture, luxury boutiques, and its concentration of Modernist landmarks. As we stroll along the boulevard, we will also admire the exterior of Casa Batlló, another of Gaudí’s iconic works. You will learn the history of Passeig de Gràcia, from its beginnings as a rural road to its transformation into a symbol of the city’s prosperity, while discovering the details of the ornate streetlamps, benches, and tiles that make it a living work of art.
At the conclusion of the monument visit, and as the final part of the experience, there will be approximately two hours of free time to explore the area, browse the shops, or enjoy lunch at your leisure before returning to the hotel.
