DISCOVER MONTSERRAT 

Not far from Barcelona, we find Montserrat, the holy mountain of Catalonia.  This is a peculiar rocky outcrop, smoothed into round shapes by the water and wind throughout the millenniums. A nearly 1000-year-old Benedictine monastery stands on the mountainside and is the guide to Catalan spiritual life. 

The “Montserrat” monastery is home to the famous statue of the Black Madonna, known as La Moreneta. Legend says that when the statue was discovered in a cave over a thousand years ago, it was so heavy that it couldn’t be moved — so the monastery was built around it instead. 

The private motorcoach will take you from hotel to Monistrol Vila village, from where you will enjoy a comfortable ride up on the rack railway train that takes you directly to the center of the Monastery.  

Once there, your guide will explain you the history, the monastery, the legends and the shrine while visiting the Basilique.   

The guide will also give you a tour to orient you to the main places of interest so you can enjoy at your own pace the breathtaking views from that height, a walk around the mountain, or have a quick lunch on own.  

Also, there is usually a farmers' market with local products you cannot miss!
